Pastoral Staff

Father Mark Ervin (B.A., S.T.B., M.A. M.F.A.), after years of study at the North American College in Rome, was ordained to the priesthood for the Archdiocese of Washington in 1990 by Archbishop James Cardinal Hickey. Since that time he's served in three parishes as a Parrochial Vicar: Church of the Little Flower (Bethesda), Saint Mary Piscataway and Saint Bartholomew (Bethesda). He was appointed pastor of Saint George Church (Valley Lee) in 2001, Mother Seton Church (Germantown) in 2007 and Saint Mary Newport in 2010.
Deacon Jerry Butkiewicz taught at Ryken High School for eleven years before becoming an administrator with the public schools, where he has worked for the past eighteen years. After five years of formation, he was ordained to the Permanent Diaconate for the Archdiocese of Washington in 2004 by Archbishop Theodore Cardinal McCarrick. Since that time he has been assigned to St. Mary Newport Parish, where he and his family have been parishioners since moving to the area in 1994.
